In her home in Torrecilla de Alcañiz, a fire killed Silvia del Pilar Anrade’s three children in 2007. It is said that she herself escaped the fire and suspicions aroused about the death of her two month twins and another year old child. It is said that she, her mother, and her aunt had started the fire in the home. As well, it seems as if the death of her husband, a month and a half before the fire, could have been a trigger to Silvia’s actions.
Originally sentenced to a fifteen year prison sentence, her punishment was suspended before her court date which was scheduled to be today, Monday, March 1st, 2010. The defense is thankful the mother would not have to attend court, expected to last five days, so that Silvia would not have to relive the nightmare of her children’s deaths.
